torrential tuesday

I didn't know it was supposed to rain today, but the storms hit around 8:30 this morning and didn't dissipate until late afternoon. We planned to do some errands today, but I decided not to get out in the ugly weather, so we stayed home and did rainy day stuff. We didn't turn on the TV until about 3:15 when I needed to check e-mail and Lauren Clay was begging for Snow White (her favorite Dwarf is Dopey... go figure.)

Anyway, we decided to paint the salt/flour fruits we made to go with the Spanish book we've been reading. It was a messy affair, but we had a good time doing it, and Lauren Clay has enjoyed playing with the fruits now that they're colorful. We read the book ("Tindi, Nandi," as she calls it) and she pretended to be different animals grabbing the fruit out of the basket.

Here she is painting the guayaba. Notice the shirt she is wearing. It's a hand-me-down from the Bradleys and she adores it. We've pulled it out of the dirty clothes twice now because she insists on wearing it all the time: "I want sleeping beauty shirt!"

Here's what the table looked like once we finished our work:

Here's a picture of a scene that melts my heart. Lauren Clay ran into the bedroom and pulled 2 pillows off the bed, then brought them into the back room. She yelled for John, "DADDY! DAD!" as she patted the pillow on the left, asking him to watch Snow White with her. When he had to get up, she kept saying, "Daddy! Cuddle bug!" as she patted that pillow. She's now following him around the house. So sweet!

Shannon,
You have to go back to work! I cannot keep pace with your daily posts. You have shamed me into attempting a post even though I should be planning for school. Looking forward to Friday,
