memorable memorial

We have had a weekend worth remembering.

We spent today at Vick and Bubba's pool for the annual Memorial Day picnic. The forecast called for storms today, and the sky was overcast... but the Weather Channel radar showed the storms dissipating as they approached Lexington. The temperature wasn't perfect for swimming, but Lauren Clay couldn't wait to get in the pool, so mom got in with her. We let Ty put his toes in the water (it was heated), but it was a little cool to put him all the way in.

John played golf Sunday morning, and Lauren Clay was very excited to see him when he returned. She picked him some flowers as they discussed his golf game:

We bought a new grill this weekend, so we had a phenomenal steak and grilled-veggie meal yesterday evening. We ate outside at twilight; the temperature was nearly perfect. John had just mowed the grass and our spring flowers are in full bloom. The mosquitos are not out yet; the flies left us alone. And to top it all off, Ty was laughing hysterically:

John's making good progress on the upstairs bathroom. Ty has figured out how to pick up his legs to crawl. As Lauren Clay approaches her third birthday, in stereotypical 3-year-old fashion, she asks, "Why?" a good 30 times a day. I'm loving being a mom to these two precious kids, and loving being a wife to my precious husband. Life is good, and this weekend we had a little taste of heaven.
