Today we celebrate 5 years of happy marriage. Last night we ate at Sal's (macadamia-encrusted halibut-- yum!!) and went to see Iron Man (fun superhero movie) with the McIntyres. John was going to say something silly at dinner like, "let's just quit pretending and make this marriage for real," but John Mac stood with us in the wedding, so he wouldn't have been fooled :). We have spent today enjoying our gift of family, admiring the antique dresser that dad's cousin-in-law, Boots, refinished for us, John's worked a bit framing the upstairs to put in a second bathroom, and I have done a little painting. I finally finished a watercolor sketch of Lauren Clay playing in the sand. I've been lax about blogging, mainly because our SD card on the camera was full, so we've not been taking pictures to add. Yesterday I popped in a new card and captured some of our day to share.
These pictures tickle me. Ty was eating some yogurt yesterday and a little got on his mouth. He's still working on cutting teeth, but the below picture gives us an idea of how he might look when the top teeth come in!
Or:It's really hard to paint with the kids around. Today I decided it might work to let Lauren Clay paint her own picture while I painted mine. She quickly moved from paper to limbs. I was so close to finishing my picture, I figured it was worth the mess to buy myself an extra 10 minutes of paint time. Here's her masterpiece:
Ty is blooming with personality these days. Months six and seven are so much fun. We get these gut laughs often now, and it's only fair that I post them so others can share our joy:
Ty is also starting to crawl. Well, he's actually only rocking on all fours, but he can get to anything he wants. Here's an example:
Finally, on Tuesday when mom was off for election day Tuesday, we took the kids to the bookstore and got some new books. I LOVE them.
Knuffle Bunny; Don't Let the Pigeon Stay up Late; Julius, Baby of the World; The Very Quiet Cricket; and
I'm reading Quaker Summer and a handful of books on parenting.
I'm off to paint the wicker patio furniture before I dress for church (and put on the diamond earrings John gave me to mark our anniversary.) Hopefully the next 5 years of marriage will be as happy as the first!

Happy anniversary to the Sampsons!
I thought about it this morning and then forgot by the time we got to your house. Lauren Clay and Ty are so sweet! We enjoyed our little visit.
