first days home

We are settling in well at home. I'm recovering well and we're sort of falling into a routine. We don't feel terribly sleep deprived, partially because John has really stepped up and taken over household responsibilities so I can rest and nap. He stays on me to not do too much, which is not easy to do when there is stuff to be done and a 2-year old who wants to play. The house is quiet right now. Lauren Clay went down for a nap really late (almost 4), but she has played really well all day. She entertained herself for a few hours this morning in the back room and in the den with puzzles, books, Thomas the Train, and her giraffe.
The pictures I've posted are just a sampling of how our home has looked the past few days. John's holding Ty in the door to try to get him some sunlight (we had an appointment yesterday, and the doctor tested him for jaundice because he looked a little yellow. The tests came back fine; he's in the clear!)
I don't know when John took the picture of Lauren Clay and me on the couch, but that's a pretty typical scene here these days. Sometimes sleep hits us at really unexpected times! On the other hand, awake hits Ty unexpectedly. He is still sleeping most of the day, so we don't see open eyes very often. I took the below picture this afternoon while he enjoyed some bouncy-chair time. He spent probably 45 minutes just looking around and taking everything in. We still haven't seen but a few smiles, but I'm pretty sure I saw a dimple when he smiled earlier today. Mom said she saw them early on, but I've not noticed one until today. I only saw it on the left side; I'll keep looking for one on the right! I'm not sure where the kids have gotten dimples. Neither of us has them...
The final picture is of Lauren Clay looking at the grass she and gran-da-daddy planted when they hung out together during one of my prenatal appointments. The grass has grown really quickly, so it's been fun for her to monitor it. After taking this picture today we cut it so it looks nicely manicured.
I'm off to catch a quick shower before onebody gets hungry again and before anotherbody wakes up and wants to play! Life is good around here. My love and joy just keep growing.
