Stethoscope

Last week after my prenatal appointment, Lauren Clay said she wanted to hear John Tyler's heartbeat again. She ran into the back room and found her play stethoscope, which is completely plastic and doesn't provide even a hint of sound. So we headed to the Parent Teacher store and found one that really works (for just $4.99!) We can't hear baby, but can really hear everyone else's heartbeat. We love to hear Lauren Clay say, "stethoscope," so we're posting last night's version of the word for others to enjoy!

Other cute things Lauren Clay is saying right now:

"do dis, mommy, do dis" (then she makes a silly noise or does a funny action for me to repeat)

"I want big water" (this means we have turned the bath water to a trickle, but she wants a full stream of water.)

"I want so so loud" (when we're in the car listening to music, I turn it down, and she wants it back to the previous volume.)

We are seeing more and more individuality, preference and independence with Lauren Clay each day. Sometimes it can be frustrating, but most of the time we are able to enjoy it. For example, a couple nights ago we made a steak, veggie and pasta dinner and started bringing the plates in to the family table. Lauren Clay refused to eat with us; she wanted to eat at her little table in the kitchen. We tried and tried to get her to sit with us, but eventually decided there was no reason to worry about it. So she sat all by herself, and the only thing we heard out of her was an occasional, "I want more pasta!"

Love the fact that we can listen to her say it! How sweet! I was thinking of getting one for Libby as well but glad to know I can get it at the PTS for the same price as I saw in the Montessori catalog. She loves to play Dr. Libby with my parents, she enjoys giving "pretend" shots. I wish I had read this before we came over to the house last night -- then we could have looked for it and see if they would listen to each other's hearts. We had a great time. You stay off your feet today and rest! You just let me know when you need me these next couple of weeks while I am off work. Libby and Lauren Clay will have fun while you rest and get ready for Ty. akml
