I took Henry to the vet at the end of last week for his annual checkup, and he is now the most medicated member of our family. He's getting a topical antibiotic for a spot on his head, he got a fresh flea treatment today, and he's taking oral antihistamines for allergies. He's been licking his paws incessantly, and scratching with his back legs (Lauren Clay says, "Henry knock knock" because his leg typically knocks against the hardwood floor when he scratches.) The allergy meds seem to help with the scratching, but he still seems kind of miserable. He's also about to start diet dog food because he's up four pounds since his last check up.
We had a good day today. Lauren Clay seems to be understanding humor a little bit, and she's communicating more each day. I really enjoy hanging out with her; we have a lot of fun together. Evenings are going pretty well, although it sometimes takes her hours to lull herself to sleep (and she won't stay in her bed unless she can see one of us.) It was nice to have the time to read early on, but I'm typically ready to go to bed after a couple hours of reading... and I need to be doing a little work after she goes to bed. Part of trying to get her in bed earlier was to have early evenings to take care of work stuff. Thankfully, most of the work I need to do right now is not pressing, but it will be very soon.
Tonight she pulled every book off her shelf and put them all in her bed. She started by building a castle out of books, and ended up just pulling them from the shelf and placing them in the pile. When she decided to finally go to sleep, she put them all in the floor. I think we'll make an activity out of the clean-up tomorrow...
I haven't located the charger for the camera batteries, so I'm going to have to resort to buying a new one. Posts without pictures just aren't as much fun!

I feel for Henry...Amigo usually gets a steroid shot every year because of the constant scratching and itching...it drives us crazy at night because we too have the hardwood floor "Knock, Knock". I can't handle two boys waking us up so Amigo is sleeping on two big dog beds (to ease our guilt) in the garage. We held off until it cooled off some but now he is out there and we love the peace and quiet! He should get a bit better with the cooler weather also. Looking forward to Friday also! Can I help with anything Friday night since I am close? I could bring something or help you set up...just give a call! ;) Karen
