funny...

More and more I'm finding myself standing between a rock and a hard place and having to make a quick decision on the next move to make. Case in point: we just returned from the grocery. It's cold outside and blustery, with a dusting of snow on the ground, so we considered staying in. However, I've reserved Monday mornings for errands-- and we were nearly out of milk-- so we packed up and headed to the store. The trip went fine. Lauren Clay was helpful and Ty was happy as long as he had a passy in his mouth. After I'd finished packing the groceries and the kids in the car, I realized I'd failed to pay for a can of tuna that was hiding under Ty's car seat in the cart. Here's my thought process: Do I just take it home and make a note to pay for it next time? Do I let it slide and consider it compensation for the bag of ice I recently paid for and forgot to grab as I headed out the door? Do I get the (now fussy) kids back out of the car, into the cold and wait in line again? As I weighed my options, I considered my increasingly impressionable 2-year old in the back seat and decided to figure out a way to take the high road. My solution: the drive-thru pharmacy:) We did have to sit in a long line, but we didn't have to get out of the car again. I'm sure the pharmacist found it humorous when a can of tuna sat in her "inbox" instead of a prescription!
I've not posted in a while, but post-worthy events and comments abound these days. I'm reserving most of my computer time for class preparations and most of my free time for enjoying the kids. Here's a quick snapshot of our happenings:
-Lauren Clay has made gigantic leaps the past three days in potty training. Without our encouragement, she has been waking up in the mornings with a dry diaper, asking to go pee pee (and running to the bathroom and doing it all by herself on the big potty.) She went completely diaperless yesterday.
-Lauren Clay is surrounded by imaginary friends (Goofy, Max, Snow White, Rusty.) She refers to them as "the guys." Friday she had Max and Henry (imaginary Henry) running races in the kitchen. She'd say, "look how fast they're running, mommy!" She also loves Ty's set of alphabet blocks. Loves to line them up or stack them, and place her Disney figurines on them. Saturday I noticed that a prince was leaning over and handing Cinderella's evil stepmother a rose.
-Her vocabulary continues to bloom, but is still sprinkled with evidence of a still-developing syntax. A cute thing she's saying now: She'll ask for something and I'll say we don't have it, to which she'll reply, "we DOES have it, mommy!" She still says, "I want to go to bed either" (which means I don't want to go to bed.) So cute.
-Ty is doing well, too. Weighed 11.5 pounds at his 2-month appt. recently, and he's starting to fill out the 3-6 month clothes. He's sleeping great and smiling often (especially at his sister.)
This picture is not of Ty, but of John. Looks like the picture might have been scratched right at his nose, but the resemblance is still striking! I will post a recent picture of Ty next time I have a few minutes to blog so you can compare.

I'm off to use this naptime to finish up classes, and hopefully catch a nap myself.
