This video is a long time coming. John and I had the idea around the time of Lauren Clay's birthday, but I didn't know how to edit video (much less put it to music.) John showed me the basics yesterday and I spent the better part of last night putting together a tribute to our three-year old.
Last night as John and I said hello to the neighbors at dusk, Lauren Clay ran around in the backyard to catch lightning bugs. When it was time to go inside, she told me she needed to catch one more. I expected the one she was chasing to be her only catch; then I saw that her right hand was tightly clenched around ELEVEN of them! We put them in a jar inside and she held them like a teddy bear as she fell asleep last night. When she woke up this morning, she immediately asked for her lightning bugs. John convinced her to let them out, but I'm sure she'll want to catch more tonight.
Yesterday the turtle returned for a visit. He was hanging out under the swingset when I went out to the garage to grab the jogging stroller. Lauren Clay ran outside and squealed, "MY TURTLE!" when she saw it. Cute that she calls it hers. This time we were ready with new batteries for the camera, so we caught some pictures. I'll post those in a bit. I've neglected housework way too long this morning!
