In preparation for Lauren Clay's third birthday, John spent most of Saturday and Sunday assembling her swingset. It's not quite finished, but it was enough for Lauren Clay to enjoy.
Here John is trying to get the main portion square. This was not a happy stage of the assembly process:

He finally figured it out. He was a trooper to work on this before we had family over for a party this evening. I know he was spent by the end of the evening tonight, but he did stay up long enough to put together Lauren Clay's "basticketball"goal from Poppy Joe so she can play with it in the morning!
Lauren Clay didn't see the swingset until the party. The next pictures are a photo-essay of the rest of the day.
When she woke up, she got to break through a crepe paper barrier to celebrate three years. She had a huge Cars coloring book, fun twisty colored pencils, and a crab cup sitting next to her "Happy Birthday" plate:
Ga Ga's card made a princess crown:
We made pancakes in the shape of 3s:
She told both Nana and Granddaddy she had pancakes in the shape of Es. Earlier she looked at them and said, "Ms!" Looking at this picture, she also could have cheered, "Ws!" At least the pancakes on her 4th birthday will not be as confusing.
Lauren Clay spent some time with mom and Poppy Joe so I could run some errands. Meanwhile, Ty celebrated Lauren Clay's birthday with a new milestone (see below.) Thankfully, we just lowered his mattress last week.
That picture of Ty is the only one I have on my camera. I know others snapped some cute ones... if you have one, will you send it to me to share?
Jeana gets the award for most creative gift wrap:
Lauren Clay received lots of fun gifts. I will enjoy playing with the games, I can't wait to dress her in the new sundresses and summery outfits she received, she's been looking glamorous in her dress-up attire, we read the new books tonight before bed, and Ariel and her sisters are tucked in next to John in our bed. Oh, and Ty is a big fan of the wand. He's not going to want to share it with Lauren Clay (nor she with him), but I don't think John will allow me to buy Ty a princess wand of his own.
Here's a mermaid dress from Anne Miriam and family:
A tea set from Ga Ga (we immediately placed it out of reach):

We had lots of family come over for hotdogs and cake in the evening. In another post, I will write about the cake fiasco. Mom supplied the hotdogs this evening-- as usual, they were a hit.

A sundress from Meg:
Some tissue paper from Nana Vick:
Vick actually gave her an adorable summer outfit and cover-up for the pool.

Sim took pictures at the party, and he gets an A for his work. I've so enjoyed looking through the pictures tonight.

So, does this mean John can come help us get a swingset up some day? Living so close to a park causes us to be a bit lazy when planning on a swing set. We did buy a lowes book on treehouses....it hurt my head!
HAPPY THIRD BIRTHDAY LAUREN CLAY!
ok, leigha wants to see the cake re-make from dairy queen. when is it going to make it's debut? what a fun day we had with you all today. thank you!!!
What a fun birthday! I can't believe Ty is pulling up. His friend Wyatt is a little to heavy to be able to pull him self up. :)
